Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Student Government Association President, Board of Trustees member, and graduate student Tonnette Graham has been elected as the first African-American chairwoman of the Florida Student Association (FSA). Her selection also makes her a member of the Florida Board of Governors. The Board of Governors operates, regulates, controls, and manages the entire State University System consisting of 12 public universities. The FSA is an organization that represents more than 300,000 students in the State University System and is comprised of the student body presidents of the state universities and their respective staffs. FSA is committed to advocating and securing quality higher education at an affordable price. Her fellow students in a recent online edition of FAMU’s student newspaper, The FAMUan, documented Graham’s history-making election.
