Hello Rattlers,
Welcome to the latest issue of FAMU Forward, where we share exciting information about the accomplishments of our extremely talented students, faculty, staff and alumni.
I want to give a special thank you and congratulations to Lt. Col. Gregory Clark and the executive leadership team of the National Alumni Association for hosting another exciting National Alumni Association Convention in Baltimore, Maryland last month. Several of our alumni from across the country supported the convention and contributed to the $273,734.28 donation presented to the University by the association, helping to make it one of the most successful to date.
A special welcome is extended to the many campers converging on the “Hill” this summer for various activities. Please enjoy your experiences with us, which I hope will ultimately spark a desire for you to attend FAMU and officially become a Rattler! We also welcome our incoming class of freshman students and their families who are participating in our orientation activities.
As members of our FAMU family begin making plans for the fall, I encourage all Rattlers to purchase season tickets for the upcoming football season. Athletics Director Milton Overton has put forth a season package with multiple options to suit your individual needs and it is important that we give our full support to this worthy and important cause. Doing so not only helps provide additional revenue to the Athletics department, it also shows a high level of support and commitment to the advancement of our student-athletes. A special thanks to those who have already purchased packages or made contributions.
As we prepare for the fall, please consider what your personal role might be in ensuring that our students receive a quality educational experience at FAMU. Future generations are counting on each of us to do what is necessary to ensure they have the same opportunities afforded to them that we have taken advantage of in the past in order to experience our own success.
With the leadership of our Board of Trustees and working as a team with you, there is no challenge too big for us to overcome. As I have said before, if Rattlers can’t bring down any barrier on the first strike, we will certainly reduce it to rubble by the third strike.
Thank you once again for all of the support that has been bestowed upon the University as we further strengthen FAMU and embark on a new era of excellence for current and future FAMUans to follow!
Keep Striking Rattlers!
