Thousands of alumni from across the U.S. will converge upon the Capital City next week to join Florida A&M University (FAMU) students, faculty and staff in celebrating the University’s annual Homecoming Week celebration.
Scheduled for October 8-October 15, this year’s Homecoming theme is “A FAMUly Reunion: Celebrating 130 Years of Excellence,” honoring the University’s 130th anniversary since its founding on October 3, 1887.
“Homecoming is such an exciting time because it allows Rattlers from far and near to unite to celebrate the unrivaled experiences that Florida A&M University has provided,” said Homecoming Committee Chair Carmen Cummings-Martin. “Homecoming also allows us to share the great things that are happening on our campus every day with our community, friends and supporters.”
The Homecoming Week schedule includes the annual Homecoming Convocation featuring FAMU alumnus and stage, television, and film actor Montrel Miller; the President’s Homecoming Gala featuring alumna and actress T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh and Tallahassee Nights Live; and the Homecoming game versus North Carolina A&T.
“This is an exciting time for FAMU,” said Interim President Larry Robinson, Ph.D. “We have another opportunity to welcome back our alumni and pay homage to FAMU’s legacy of providing affordable educational pathways that have a positive impact on the economic reality of countless families and communities. We also look forward to coming together to show our students that we support them and are committed to their success.”
Fans and community members will also enjoy the annual Homecoming Parade featuring the world-renowned Marching “100” and statewide organizations and schools.
