FAMU Faculty Appointed to International Scientific Advisory Board
O.S. Mbuya, Ph.D. a professor of Agricultural Sciences in the FAMU College of Agricultural and Food Sciences (CAFS), and a Courtesy Professor of Agronomy at the University of Florida /Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) will attend and present at the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC) 68th United Nations Civil Society Conference to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, on August 26 – 28, 2019.
Mbuya has also been appointed to serve as a member of the International Scientific Advisory Board of the Africa Center of Excellence for Mycotoxins and Food Safety at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria.
SJGC Dean Receives Award from Journalism Educators
Michelle Ferrier, Ph.D., dean of the FAMU School of Journalism & Graphic Communication (SJGC), was awarded the prestigious Professional Freedom and Responsibility Award from the Media Management Economics and Entrepreneurship Division (MMEE). The MMEE is a division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), which is the nonprofit association of journalism and mass communication educators, students and media professionals.
Ferrier was recognized for the critical research and continuing work of the organization she founded: TrollBusters – an organization that combats online harassment of journalists. She received the Outstanding Professional Freedom and Responsibility award during the division meeting of AEJMC in Toronto, Canada.
FAMU Faculty Receives Honorary Doctorate from Largest University in North Hungary
Victor Ibeanusi, Ph.D., Dh.c, FAMU’s dean of the school of the environment, was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Miskolc, in Hungary.
The University is located in Miskolc, Hungary, and has over 15,000 students.
