Essence and Pepsi partnered for the first time to launch the “She Got Now” initiative. Kicking off the partnership at Florida A&M University (FAMU), the two companies honored alumna and Sister Circle TV host, Rashan Ali, and former Student Government Association Vice President Robyn Seniors.
“She Got Now” celebrates, honors and supports women who continue to set the bar of excellence high both in and outside the classroom.
FAMU Announces $1.2 Million Program To Train Students To Help Children with Disabilities
FAMU School of Allied Health Sciences’, divisions of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy have been awarded $1.2 million by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) to implement an interdisciplinary training program to prepare graduate students to work with children with disabilities.
The KiDDs program will provide funding for 45 graduate students for interdisciplinary training for five years. Trainees will develop in-depth knowledge and skills in evidence-based assessment and instructional approaches for children with high-intensity needs, interdisciplinary collaboration, and cultural responsiveness.
FAMU-FSU Cryogenic Researchers Use the Science of “Cool” to Advance Particle Accelerator Development
FAMU-FSU Engineering professor Wei Guo and his team are using cryogenics to study liquid helium and its use related to superconducting particle accelerators, to make them safer and more efficient. Guo is the director of the Cryogenics Lab located in the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory.
Cryogenics research is supportive research for many technologies, but the number of researchers engaged in this type of work in the U.S. is limited. The Cryogenics Lab at the university is among the very few places in the U.S. where students can get training in this field.
