Drum Major Cori Bostic Presented with Check from Perfect Results Inc.
Perfect Results Inc. of Palm Beach County presented FAMU’s first female drum major Cori Bostic with a $1,000 check for the African Diaspora Award on Nov. 1. Bostic, a broadcast journalism student from Decatur, Ga., is scheduled to graduate in December.
Earlier this year, Bostic was honored during a ceremony at the African Diaspora Awards in Fort Lauderdale. This nationally recognized award has been given to more than 100 individuals, organizations and institutions since its inception.
FAMU Marine and Naval Science Faculty Promoted to Captain
Florida A&M University (FAMU) Marine Officer Instructor and Assistant Professor of Naval Science, Nicholas R. Rader, from Rockford, Ill., has been promoted to Captain, United States Marine Corps.
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in History, Capt. Rader reported to FAMU in June 2019. His role is to instruct midshipmen enrolled at FAMU, Florida State University, and Tallahassee Community College.
HLN/CNN to Broadcast from FAMU November 15 and 16
HLN/CNN news will broadcast live from FAMU for their College Tailgating series on Friday, Nov. 15 starting at 7:30 a.m. and Saturday, Nov. 16 starting at 9 a.m. ahead of the Howard University football game. The event will feature The Marching “100,” FAMU cheerleaders, Venom mascot and food.
The Friday event will be on the Quad near Lee Hall Auditorium and the Saturday coverage will be near Bragg Memorial Stadium.
Tickets on Sale for the FAMU v BCU and Florida Classic Tradition
The FAMU v BCU rivalry continues with the annual Florida Classic tradition on Saturday, Nov. 23. Since the first game in 1978, more than 1.8 million fans have experienced the two schools battle it out on the gridiron. The Rattlers boast an 8-1 record this season.
