Whether staying at home during the COVID-19 pandemic or returning to campus, college students need access to services provided by their institutions. At Florida A&M University (FAMU), many of these campus services are accessed using the Rattler Card.
It is the official identification card required for students, faculty and staff. Campus services such as the book voucher, meal plan, Rattler Bucks, campus access, banking and other services are linked to the Rattler Card.
“Normally, students would pick up their Rattler Card upon their arrival to campus,” said Vidal Ray, Rattler Card Office manager, “but with a growing number of students opting to engage in remote learning, physical card pickup was going to be an issue…so the virtual Rattler Card was implemented.”
The virtual Rattler Card gives students the ability to utilize their Rattler Card credentials such as card and library number for online access to book vouchers, library services, as well as other campus resources, prior to card pickup.
All incoming students must complete the online photo submission process to access their virtual Rattler Card as well as their physical card. Photos must be submitted at rattlercard.famu.edu at least 48 hours prior to arriving on campus. To view virtual Rattler Card credentials, log in to rattlercard.famu.edu using your university credentials and click on Virtual Rattler Card Display under account management.
“Our goal is to always remain relevant and provide convenience in serving the needs of our students,” said Rebecca Brown, assistant vice president for Finance and Administration. “The virtual Rattler Card keeps us in that vein.”
