Tallahassee, Fl – Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) announced its partnership with HBCU 142, a channel on SiriusXM, to bring listeners FAMU Now! a fresh weekly show that provides an insider’s look at the university.
Transporting listeners to the “Highest of Seven Hills” in Tallahassee, university leaders, faculty, staff, students, and alumni will produce a weekly conversation about the latest news and topics of note all from a Rattler perspective.
“This show will provide new opportunities for our stakeholders and supporters to engage with Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, said President Elmira Mangum, Ph.D. “For the first time, every week, no matter where you are in the country you can tune in and share with us the great things that are happening at FAMU every day.”
Students and alumni from Florida A&M’s School of Journalism and Graphic Communication, will produce, write and host the show each week.
“This is a tremendous opportunity not only for the entire university but especially for our School of Journalism students and alumni,” said School of Journalism and Graphic Communications Dean Ann W. Kimbrough. “With 27.7 million subscribers, SiriusXM provides a platform for our students and alumni to showcase the talent, training, and skills our university produces.”
The inaugural FAMU NOW! show aired Wednesday, June 17and featured the Marching “100,” prestigious FAMU alumni including Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, as well as President Mangum. FAMU NOW! will air every Wednesday at 4 p.m. and will air two more times each week.
The shows promise to be fresh, providing listeners with “edu-tainment” that they can only get by tuning into HBCU 142, a channel on SiriusXM each week.
