Jemal Omar Gibson
Throughout his lifetime, Jemal Omar Gibson has been called upon to teach, speak, serve, lead, and motivate others. A man full of determination and resilience, Gibson is a talented author, much sought after speaker, corporate executive, career coach, and philanthropist. His goal in life is to encourage others to live their best lives regardless of their circumstances and surroundings.
Gibson’s journey has been inspired by his humble beginnings growing up in the West Side of Chicago, and his education at Florida A&M University, where he graduated with honors from the School of Business and Industry in 1993. After graduation, he served as an infantry officer in the United States Army. He was selected to the Commandant’s List for graduating at the top of his Infantry Officer Basic Course and, while serving our country, completed the elite U.S. Army Ranger and Airborne schools.
Gibson has spent the past 22 years in the pharmaceutical industry, working with some of the best companies in the world, including Pfizer and AstraZeneca. He has managed billions of dollars in sales and received numerous awards and accolades over the years. He is currently a pharmaceutical executive with Alkermes Inc., where he leads the Southeast region.
Gibson received a best-selling author award for his first book, “Drugs: My Curse My Savior.” The book is a motivational memoir, which chronicles his life from childhood through adulthood, navigating the world of illegal drugs and the legal drug industry. His second book “The 3 Spirations” is an inspirational self-help book due to be released in 2017. Leveraging his Executive Leadership training at Harvard, he’s served on several boards, most recently as the board chair for the National Sales Network and as a member of the board of directors of the Florida A&M University Foundation.
He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the “Most Inspirational Executive” by Executive 50, the Martin Luther King Leadership Award, Florida A&M University’s Distinguished Alumni Award, and is a FAMU’s School of Business and Industry Hall of Fame inductee. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., the National Society of Pershing Rifles, Prince Hall Masons, and A.E.A.O.N.M.S Prince Hall Shriners. He established the Jemal Gibson Suit Scholarship for the FAMU School of Business and Industry, and he and his family have supported many organizations around the country that focus on uplifting families and children, especially those impacted by drugs and addiction.
Gibson and his wife, Lisa, along with their three daughters, Iman, Zhara, and Nadya, and nephew, Anthony Jr., reside in Fayetteville, Georgia.
