The 2019 edition of the “Homecoming Special” is set to debut on FAMU TV-20 at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16 at 10 p.m. The special is devoted to highlighting the celebration of FAMU’s 132 years of academic excellence and service. FAMU’s homecoming is described as an experience like no other and provides the community with a week of fun-filled activities and school pride.
This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the annual “Homecoming Special.” This year’s anchors were broadcast journalism students: Avery Jacobs, Ruelle Fludd, Tiffany Bui, Raiyana Malone, Vanessa Lawrence and Sherneka Streater. The special was produced by Lawrence, Fludd and recent School of Journalism & Graphic Communication graduate Stanley Danzey.
“Seeing how excited everyone was to be involved and apply their knowledge to bring the special to life was my favorite part of this experience,” said Fludd.
The “Homecoming Special” will consist of recaps of the comedy show, coronation, gospel concert, housing step show and the Greek step show, to name a few. In addition to airing on FAMU TV20, it can also be found online at SJGCMEDIA.com and under the TV-20 tab at thefamuanonline.com.
“There was a lot of hard work and effort put into this special and I hope what we have created really resonates with our viewers and audience. They’re in for a treat,” said Lawrence.
The “Homecoming Special” debuted in 1997 under the tutelage of Kenneth Jones, a broadcast journalism professor who is also a second-generation Rattler.
“This is one of the strongest specials we’ve produced and probably the best mix of freshmen through seniors we’ve had in a long time,” said Jones.
