Florida A&M University (FAMU) Interim President Larry Robinson, Ph.D., has been named a 2014 Charles Kenzie Steele Sr. Scholarship Foundation honoree. Robinson and other distinguished recipients will be honored for their outstanding contributions to the community during a luncheon scheduled Saturday, Feb. 22 at 11 a.m. at the Leon County Civic Center.
The foundation provides scholarships to qualified high school seniors preparing for college in honor of Steele’s legacy. Steele was a civil rights activist and long-time local pastor, who helped organize the Tallahassee Bus Boycott. He was a prominent member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), serving as first vice president under the Rev. Dr. Martin L. King Jr.
