Patricia Green-Powell, Ph.D., professor and interim dean of the Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Education will deliver the keynote address at the Spring 2014 Raines Colloquium at Michigan State University (MSU). The colloquium will take place on Feb. 27 at 1 p.m.
Green-Powell’s keynote address is titled: “Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs): Past, Present and Future.” She will discuss the value of institutional leadership and student affairs at HBCUs and the necessity of addressing the growing needs of college students.
The Raines Colloquium is an annual event organized to foster intellectual, professional and personal growth among students, faculty and alumni at MSU. Each year, MSU calls upon national distinguished scholars and practitioners within student affairs, adult education and higher education to participate in a series of lectures and discussions designed to strengthen the foundation of academics.
Green-Powell began her career at FAMU in 1994 as the director of student services for the School of Business and Industry (SBI). Green-Powell previously served as associate dean for Student Services at FAMU and prior to that lent her leadership and management expertise to the Center of Academic Success, Office of Student Teaching and the Title III Grant program. She earned her Ph.D. in educational administration and leadership from Florida State University (FSU).
