WHAT: Groundbreaking Ceremony for FAMU Way Extension Project
WHEN: Monday, March 31 at 11 a.m.
WHERE: Intersection of FAMU Way and Wahnish Way
WHO: FAMU Interim President Larry Robinson, Mayor John Marks, City Manager Anita Favors Thompson and City Commissioners will be in attendance.
OVERVIEW: The groundbreaking ceremony will officially kick off construction for the FAMU Way Extension Project. The project is a $37 million undertaking that will extend FAMU Way from Wahnish Way to Lake Bradford Rd. In addition, enhancements will be made to the existing FAMU Way corridor between Wahnish Way and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The project will be completed in three phases. Phase I begins in April 2014 and is expected to be completed by 2016.
A portion of FAMU Way, east of the Wahnish Way intersection, will be closed from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Monday, March 31, for the groundbreaking ceremony. Designated parking for the event will be available at city-owned lots along Railroad Avenue and in Railroad Square.
