TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) College of Agriculture and Food Sciences (CAFS) Cooperative Extension Program will host the 2014 Fall Farm Fest Agri-Showcase on Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the FAMU Research and Extension Center, located at 4259 Bainbridge Hwy. in Quincy, Fla. The Agri-Showcase is the closing celebration of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act of 1914, which officially created the national Cooperative Extension System.
“The aim of the Agri-Showcase is to promote public awareness of the full scope of our land-grant mission, which embraces teaching, research and outreach in the community,” said Robert Taylor, Ph.D., dean of CAFS.
Local farmers, producers, and families in the Big Bend area and surrounding counties are invited to attend this educational and entertaining event. The showcase will feature health and nutrition awareness displays, health screenings, CAFS exhibits, farm tours, and giveaways. In addition, there will be product tasting and sampling from CAFS departments, as well as vendor booths hosted by local companies and organizations.
On-site registration for the Farm Fest is available. The registration fee is $5 for adults, $2 for children 17 and under. Children under the age of 5 are free. Group rates are also available. The registration fee includes lunch and a registration bag.
