Elmira Mangum, Ph.D., president of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), will deliver the 23rd Annual Sonja Haynes Stone Memorial Lecture on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 7 p.m. at the prestigious Stone Center for Black Culture and History. The annual lecture honors the late Sonja Haynes Stone, Ph.D., a UNC professor, and Center advocate.
Dr. Mangum received a bachelor’s degree in geography and education from North Carolina Central University. She graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a master’s degree in public policy and public administration, and earned a second master’s degree in urban and regional planning. She received a doctorate in philosophy in educational leadership and policy from the University at Buffalo (SUNY).
