Welcome to another exciting issue of FAMU Forward, where we share the outstanding accomplishments of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
I’d like to thank everyone who supported our various Women’s History Month events. In observance of the month, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) is hosting a series of events where women from all walks of life are recognized. With a theme of “Working to Form a More Perfect Union: Honoring Women in Public Service and Government,” we continue to highlight the accomplishments of several outstanding women whose lives have contributed to the growth and development of FAMU and society in general. I invite you to join us on March 26, for our final program of the series, the “Heroines’ Tea.” During the event, nine phenomenal women will be honored for making a significant impact on society.
As we continue in our efforts to elevate FAMU to greater heights, the University’s progress in performance funding metrics is the latest example of the hard work taking place to achieve our goals. The achievements were announced during the Board of Governors meeting on March 16. At that time it was revealed that FAMU made a 13-point improvement over last year’s score. As a result of this accomplishment, FAMU now ranks among the top eight State University System institutions and is eligible to receive performance funding from a $500 million pool of state resources. These results are a reflection of the University community unifying to ensure progression in our student success efforts.
Promoting the success of all of our students, including our student athletes is important. Please join me in congratulating our University cheerleaders on capturing the MEAC Championship. The sustained energy and excitement exhibited by our cheerleaders has served our fans and teams well. For that we are extremely grateful and wish them continued success as they continue uplifting and supporting FAMU!
With the conclusion of the spring semester approaching, it is important that we remain focused on finishing the term on a strong note. With this in mind, I encourage our students, faculty, staff, and alumni to please continue in your efforts to achieve excellence in all you do. Please remember that your hard work and dedication reflects positively upon the legacy of FAMU and the future students who will join our proud ranks in the years to come.
Let’s keep working together to ensure FAMU’s eternal flame shines brighter than ever before, as we continue our march along the road to higher levels of success and achievements!
Keep Striking Rattlers!
