Florida A&M University (FAMU) leaders, recruiters, students, and alumni are preparing to head to Tampa this weekend with the goal of recruiting the area’s best and brightest high school students.
The event is a part of the Tampa Classic Football Weekend, where the FAMU Rattlers will take on the Tennessee State University Tigers at Raymond James Stadium, which will take place at 6 p.m., on Saturday, September 16.
The recruitment event will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m., at Jefferson High School located at 4401 W. Cypress St. The first 100 high school seniors in attendance will receive a free ticket to the FAMU vs. Tennessee game.
Students in attendance will get to meet one-on-one with recruiters from some of the University’s top degree programs, including nursing, business, health sciences, engineering, biological sciences, psychology, criminology, education, computer science, and animal science. Students will also hear from the University’s Interim President Larry Robinson, Ph.D., Vice President for Student Affairs William Hudson Jr., Ph.D., members of the FAMU National Alumni Association, and student leaders and performers.

The Tampa Classic Weekend is dedicated to first responders and families impacted by Hurricane Irma.
All first responders and their immediate family members will be provided with complimentary tickets to the game and donations will be collected onsite for the American Red Cross to help Floridians who are still in need of assistance.
