FAMU is gearing up for its annual Homecoming celebration in October. Community members and groups are encouraged to sign up online to participate in the parade at sga.famu.edu.
This year’s theme is “The Experience.”
Last year’s parade route will return. The October 6 route will start at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Wahnish Way and heads north on Wahnish Way toward Gamble Street. The parade will then make a right onto Gamble Street and continue east, making another right on Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Blvd. It will continue south on MLK Blvd., until it reaches Osceola Street. The parade will end at the intersection of Osceola and MLK Blvd. The grandstand will be located in front of Lee Hall.
This year’s celebration will coincide with FAMU‘s Founder’s Day events, celebrating its 131st anniversary beginning October 3. A full Homecoming week schedule will be released to the public this month.
Regular registration ends on September 28, at 5 p.m. If there are any questions regarding registration, applicants may contact Ria Floyd at 850-599-3624.
