Hello Rattlers and Friends,
Welcome to the holiday edition of FAMU Forward. As we embrace this season of Thanksgiving, let us be mindful of the many things for which we should be grateful. We wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season, and we are delighted to share the many exciting accomplishments of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
As always, your love for the University, your generosity and your support will guarantee the continuation of our 131-year legacy of “Excellence with Caring.”
We have a storied past, but in my view, the best is yet to come. So many of our alumni are opening doors and paving the way for a brighter future for their families and communities, as well as our current students.
Earlier this month, I had the distinct honor of being installed as the 12th President of Florida A&M University. Thanks to an outstanding Inaugural Committee led by Dr. Valencia Matthews and Ms. Linda Barge-Miles, J.D., we had a wonderful time. In this issue of FAMU Forward, we give you a snapshot of the inauguration festivities, from the Research Symposium, the Unveiling of a historical marker, to the Inaugural Gala and the Installation Ceremony. It was a joyous occasion that signified the support that FAMU has from all of you.
Although there is much to celebrate and be thankful for at FAMU, we must always be mindful of the individuals, families and communities that could benefit from our help. Let us also continue in our rich tradition of being of service to those in need. With your help, we prepare graduates to be leaders committed to giving back and having positive impacts wherever their journey takes them.
We are preparing to send another wave of Rattlers into the next stage in their lives and look forward to seeing many of you at Commencement Exercises on December 14 and 15. We are proud of the accomplishments of our soon-to-be graduates and share in the pride and excitement of all of you who supported them along the way.
Thank you and let’s keep striking together for the benefit of FAMU and the vital development of the outstanding students we serve.
