This year, the FAMU President’s Toy Drive is helping make the holidays special for many families and their children. The event, held on December 7, at the President’s House, was a success with President Larry Robinson and his wife, Sharon Robinson, greeting faculty, staff and the general public to help enhance the holidays for area children.
“We want to help spread the joy of the season to children in our community,” said President Robinson, Ph.D. “We thank the FAMU faculty, staff, students and Tallahassee community for their generous contributions in helping us bring smiles to children and their families.”
The University collected more than 416 toys and 57 bicycles. They will be distributed to the Emergency Care Health Organization Center, the Apalachee Center, former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum’s toy drive which is hosted by alumnus and Leon County School Board Member Daryl Jones, and individual families that requested assistance.
