CBS News incoming President and Senior Executive Producer Susan Zirinsky has named three top executives to a new strategic management team.
Kimberly Godwin becomes Executive Vice President of News, with top editorial oversight of newsgathering around the world, including the national desks, foreign desks and bureaus. Godwin has served as a top CBS News editorial leader in multiple key positions since joining CBS News in 2007, most recently serving as Vice President of News. She also served as CBS News’ executive director for Development and Diversity since 2014. With dozens of years in newsrooms across the country, Godwin is a proven executive and respected newsroom leader.
Charles Pavlounis takes on an expanded role of Executive Vice President of Business Development and Chief Financial Officer, overseeing the News Division’s finances, business operations, CBS Newspath, CBS News Radio and new business development initiatives, including content development, audio streaming and podcasting and new revenue streams with strategic partners. Pavlounis, who joined CBS News in 2015, has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews will become Executive Vice President of Strategic Professional Development, focusing on recruitment and development of off-air talent to assure the organization attracts and retains the best workforce. As a veteran of CBS News, Ciprian-Matthews will work closely with the News Division’s new and expanding human resources department as they launch new initiatives focused on enhancing our culture. Ciprian-Matthews has risen through the ranks at CBS News and served as Executive Vice President of News since 2018.

Most recently, Godwin served as the Vice President of News and was responsible for the editorial direction, launch and coordination of all CBS News newsgathering resources domestically and around the globe. Godwin also served as CBS News’ executive director for Development and Diversity, where she oversaw the Division’s outreach, recruitment and retention programs. A proven newsroom leader, Godwin previously served as a senior broadcast producer for the CBS EVENING NEWS, where she helped shape the Network’s flagship evening news broadcast and the network’s coverage of major national and international events. She joined CBS in 2005 and became Acting News Director at WCBS-TV. She moved to CBS News in 2007 as a Senior Producer at the CBS EVENING NEWS. In 2014 she became Senior Broadcast Producer of the CBS EVENING NEWS and Executive Director of Diversity and Development, and Vice President of News in 2017.
Before joining CBS News, Godwin spent more than 20 years as an executive and newsroom leader at some of the top local stations in the country, including New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Dallas and Cleveland. Godwin is the recipient of many distinguished awards, including six Emmys; two Edward R. Murrow Awards; an Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia award; and a Sigma Delta Chi award.
