Have you experienced FAMU in virtual reality? Well, now you can! What once may have seemed like a futuristic idea, is becoming more like the norm when it comes to visiting FAMU’s campus.
The University’s “Virtual Reality Tour,” spearheaded by Vice President Of Student Affairs Dr. William Hudson, Jr. and alumna L. Michelle Salvant, has opened up the door for 17,252 visitors to experience FAMU last year without ever physically stepping foot on campus. (Stats, Courtesy, YouVisit).
The tour features 21-stops across campus and beyond, including the School of Business & Industry, The FAMU College of Law, Campus Recreation, Student housing and more.
More stops will be added, this year, to the tour and students are also learning how to create virtual reality experiences that will be added to a special section.
“It’s amazing to see how much the tour has grown since 2017. I’m super excited to see where the students will take it in the years to come,” said Salvant.
So far this year alone 1,805 visitors have experienced the tour, spending an average virtual reality time of 7:28, up 34 percent from last year. This new way of visiting campus has been extremely beneficial to the Office of Enrollment Management, which can access the data from the visitors to aid in recruitment efforts.
