Site releases new phone number for those needing results after seven days.
Due to the expansion of testing capacity as a result of the strong community response at the Florida A&M University (FAMU)-Bond Community Health Center COVID-19 Testing Site, the volume of laboratory tests has doubled.
In consideration of the additional turn-around time needed to process tests, those who have not received their results within seven business days should call (850) 264-2082.
Since its opening on April 25, the Bragg Memorial Stadium site has processed 4,758 tests. Set to remain operational until at least May 21, the site opens 9 a.m. daily and has expanded capacity to test 400 people every day – double the initial amount.
The FAMU-Bond Strike COVID-19 Testing Team is also increasing the number of staff to support the greater demand. The Leon County Health Department is investigating all positive cases and conducting contact tracing.
The walk-up site is open to anyone who wants to be tested – symptomatic, asymptomatic and those who want to know their status. Tests are free and no physician referral is required. Residents can also schedule an appointment by calling the Leon County Health Department at 850-404-6399.
“We want everyone to have access to testing,” said Cynthia Harris, Ph.D., director of the FAMU Institute of Public Health and who, along with Bond CEO Dr. Temple Robinson, is one of the organizers of the site. The state Division of Emergency Management, the Leon County Health Department and the Florida National Guard are also part of the operation.
“The success of this testing site attests to the value of partnerships in combating this pandemic,” Harris added. “As the demand grows, we will continue to make adjustments so we can better serve the public.”
