Florida A&M University (FAMU) alumnus Arturo Nuñez has been named chief marketing officer (CMO) of Nubank, the world’s largest independent digital bank.
In his new role, Nuñez will run the brand’s global efforts, which are currently focused in Brazil, Mexico and Colombia.
Nuñez brings his experience in sports and lifestyle working for brands like Nike and NBA, as well as a tech repertoire, as marketing director for Apple Latin America. More recently, Nuñez founded AIE Creative, a company dedicated to creating cultural connections between brands and consumers.
“Nubank’s success and trajectory have been impressive. It is an honor for me to take on this challenge and help elevate the concept of digital banking to a whole new level,” said Nuñez, who will be based in Miami, where he lives. He earned a degree in economics and business administration at FAMU and is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Nubank was voted by eCGlobal consulting as one of the 10 most loved in Brazil and the most loved brand in the country in the “digital banks” category.
Nuñez joins giant Nubank following its brand repositioning, which reflects the company’s maturity. In eight years of history, Nubank consolidated itself as the largest independent digital bank in the world, with almost 40 million clients.
The Sao Paulo, Brazil-based company also developed a broad product portfolio, offering not just the credit card, but a digital account, personal loans, life insurance. Solutions for entrepreneurs and small businesses, and investments, besides having operations in three countries.
