The Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) Board of Trustees will hold its scheduled committee and full board meetings Sept. 10-11 on its main campus in Tallahassee.
The meetings will be held at the FAMU Grand Ballroom in the H. Manning Efferson Building, 1628 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
The committee meetings will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. EST.
The full board meeting will be held on Sept. 11 from 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. EST.
Standing committees and the full board will meet to discuss matters pertaining to the university.

Florida A&M University will be hosting the Inaugural Mobley-Thompson Creativity and Innovation Summer Academy. The program, sponsored by funding from the School of Business and Industry’s Interdisciplinary Center for Creativity and Innovation (ICCI), is available for students in grades 3 through grades 12, and will consist of separate theme-based weeks designed to introduce students to various topics centered around technology and entrepreneurship.
Week 1 (July 13-17): Cultural Awareness and Heritiage
Week 2 (July 20-24): Writing and Communications
Week 3 (July 27-31): Marketing and Business
Week 4 (Aug 3 – 7): STEM Explosion
Each week students will participate in exciting and innovative academic lessons and hands-on activities designed to expose the students to the importance of educational and professional development.
Registration for the program is now open – the rate is $150/week for students, and $75/week for students in free or reduced lunch programs (must be verified upon applying). Discounts are available for multiple children from the same family, as well as for registering for multiple weeks.
4th International Conference and Exhibition on Materials Science and Engineering provides a perfect symposium for scientists, engineers, directors of companies and students in the field of Materials Science and Nanotechnology to meet and share their knowledge. The scientific program paves a way to gather visionaries through the research talks and presentations to put forward many thought provoking strategies. The program will focus on current research and advancements in materials research, synthesis, and fabrication.
Join the FAMU School of Journalism & Graphic Communication for a conversation about how race is portrayed in the media. SJGC’s Knight Chair for Student Achievement Francine Huff will host a panel discussion featuring Eric Deggans, NPR’s TV critic and author of “Race Baiter: How the Media Wields Dangerous Words to Divide a Nation;” Shonda Knight, WCTV executive producer and anchor; Dr. Leah Hunter, SJGC visiting professor; and Dr. Rondrea Mathis, social justice advocate and visiting instructor at University of South Florida.
