Welcome to another issue of FAMU Forward where we share the latest-exciting news and achievements of our students, faculty, staff and alumni.
Please join me in congratulating the more than 400 Rattlers who became FAMU’s newest alumni on Aug. 4. I commend each of them for the effort they put in to reach this pivotal moment in their lives.
As we transition into a new academic year, I encourage all students to remain focused on achieving their respective goals. Whether it is completing assignments or obtaining a highly desired internship, taking classes or taking a little time to recharge, students who keep their eyes on the prize will reap the most benefits from their hard work and dedication.
A new academic year also presents a good time to recommit toward supporting FAMU in important endeavors including fundraising initiatives. As members of the FAMU family, our fundraising efforts remain important. We want to make sure that current students, who may face the same dire circumstances in life that many of us overcame long ago, have the same chances we had to achieve success.
As a reminder, if you have not already done so, please register to receive the FAMU Forward newsletter by email. To sign up, simply log on to: www.famunews.com and register for the newsletter. Among the fascinating stories in this issue is one about renowned actress and alumna T’Keyah Crystal Keymah who returns to the Hill this fall as an Artist-in-Residence. There is also a creative video showcasing the outstanding campers and performances of the 2017 Marching “100” Summer Band Camp.
Although obstacles to reaching greater heights do remain, we can all take comfort in knowing that nothing can stop the Rattlers when we strike together as one. With this in mind, please consider what your personal role might be in ensuring that a quality educational experience at FAMU will continue to be enjoyed by our students. In addition, future generations are counting on each of us to do what is necessary to keep FAMU’s light of excellence shining bright.
Here’s to a renewed since of purpose that we can all indulge toward the continued growth and development of FAMU!
