Florida A&M University (FAMU) President Larry Robinson, Ph.D., has named Keith Miles, former FAMU Alumni Affairs director and longtime voice of Rattler football, as interim director of the Office of Communications. His appointment becomes effective Feb. 1.
Robinson said Miles will lead the University’s internal and external communications operations until he names a permanent replacement for Kathy Y. Times. She resigned in December and will leave the post on Friday January 31, 2020.
“I will keep you informed as we pursue a permanent director of communications,” Robinson said. “I thank Kathy Times for her service to FAMU and wish her well in her future endeavors.”
The Office of Communications manages the University’s marketing, creative services, the president’s communications, media relations, publications and special events.
Miles, former general manager of WANM 90.5 Radio, manages internal communications for the Office of Communications. His responsibilities have included writing speeches for the president, commencement ceremonies and other major events. He has been a FAMU deputy athletic director, and from 1988 to 1991, legislative liaison and spokesman for the Governor’s Energy Office and director of Alumni Affairs from 1991 to 1999 .
